A large three masted sailing ship used from the 15th to the 17th century, usually with two or more decks, especially used by Spain as a merchant ship or warship. The most prominent feature of Spanish sailing ships is their towering bow and stern decks. In war, when two ships are stuck side by side, their advantage is that they can easily board enemy ships. Its intimidating castle like appearance also serves as a psychological deterrent to enemies, with a 50 pound shell having a range of 400 meters.
